I've been thinking a lot about the terms "bridesmaid," "groomsmen," and "maid of honor" and I've come to the conclusion that they are quite awful.
I mean, sure, I'd like the women in my bridal party to help out, but they aren't exactly intended to be my maids. Nor are most of them single. Matron sounds out-dated as well.
And, why is there no apostrophe in "groomsmen"? I'm confused.
But I've come-up with some alternatives! How about Bride's Belles and Groom's Men?
Belles of Honor?
